ANNAPOLIS, MD

SUMMER EDITION

My Perfect Annapolis Summer

There is a distinct shift in energy when it’s summer in Annapolis. The morning air carries the crisp breeze from the Chesapeake Bay, the brick pathways of the historic district radiate the afternoon heat, and the horizon is a canvas of white sails.

Here are some of my favorite escapes in my beautiful town

If I am not making the most of backyard living, these are my day treats:

  • Quiet Waters Park - tucked beautifully between the South River and Harness Creek. Walk through the tall trees, take a blanket to sit down and read, rent a kayak or paddle board.

  • William Paca House and Garden - it’s like a quiet refuge. Walking through that meticulously 18th-century English garden feels like stepping into a hidden sanctuary, completely isolated from the busy tourist traffic just a block away from the downtown dock.

  • Crossing the Bridge to Eastport -  to me, you haven't truly experienced Annapolis until you cross the Spa Creek bridge into Eastport. While downtown feels historic and stately, Eastport feels salty, relaxed, and creative. And the food makes it even better. Favorite spots are Oscar’s Coffee - by the water, Boatyard - a sailor’s heaven, where the locals eat, Forward Brewing - great for meeting friends, and Vin 909, perfect for pizza and a glass of wine.

A golden hour tradition - the downtown family evening stroll

As the sun drops lower and the humidity finally begins to break, we start our walk through the locally owned shops, head down to the City Dock to watch the sails, and then straight to dinner. Our go to restaurants are :

The evening is not complete without a stop at Annapolis Ice Cream Company, hands down the best in Maryland.

There's so much to love and do in Annapolis, this is just a sample of our most cherished things. I hope you have a fantastic Summer!
