THE UNEXPECTED RED THEORY

Lately, there’s been a lot of talk around something called “The Red Theory”, the idea that adding just a touch of red can instantly elevate a space, an outfit, or even your overall look. And honestly? We couldn’t agree more.

At Tonya Maggio Interiors, we’ve always believed that interiors and fashion speak the same language. The way a home makes you feel should be no different than the feeling you get when you put on an outfit that just works. Confident. Comfortable. Pulled together. Effortless.

Some of the best spaces feel layered the same way the best wardrobes do. A beautiful neutral foundation paired with texture, contrast, personality, and that one unexpected detail that brings everything to life. Sometimes that detail is red.

Not necessarily bright or overpowering red—but the kind that feels collected and timeless. A vintage rug with faded berry tones. A striped fabric. A weathered brick floor. Fresh summer tomatoes in the kitchen. Even a red lip with an otherwise simple linen outfit. It adds warmth, depth, energy, and a little confidence to the room.

With Memorial Day approaching, it felt like the perfect opportunity to talk about it. There’s something about this time of year that naturally leans into that classic Americana palette—soft whites, warm woods, touches of navy, natural textures, and subtle hints of red woven throughout. It feels nostalgic, welcoming, and ready for summer gatherings.

We always tell clients that homes should feel personal and lived in—not overly perfect. Often, it’s the smallest layers that make the biggest impact. A little red might just be one of them.
