The “T” Talk - Welcome Summer
There’s something about the start of summer that feels nostalgic before it even begins.
Maybe it’s because one son is home from college, and the other is heading into his last summer before senior year. Suddenly, the everyday moments feel a little more meaningful. The late dinners. The people wandering in and out of the kitchen. Friends piled into the house. The smell of sunscreen and dinner on the grill. A messy kitchen that somehow feels like proof everyone’s home.
At Tonya Maggio Interiors, we talk often about creating homes that feel beautiful, but summer reminds us that the best homes are the ones that get lived in.
This season, we’re leaning into the little things:
Setting the table even on a Tuesday
Fresh flowers from Trader Joe’s or the yard
A signature summer candle burning in the kitchen
Outdoor speakers playing while everyone drifts in and out
Keeping throw blankets nearby for late porch nights
Making the guest room feel ready because somehow there’s always “one more friend” coming over
Summer entertaining doesn’t have to be formal to feel special. In fact, we think the magic is usually in the casual moments.
We also love how summer changes the feeling of a home. Linen textures. Collected blue and green tones. Natural woven materials. Lighter meals. Doors left open a little longer. Spaces that breathe easier.
And while we love a beautifully designed room, what matters most is how it makes you feel. Comfortable enough to gather. Relaxed enough to slow down. Welcoming enough that people want to stay awhile.
That’s the real luxury of summer at home.
A Few Things We’re Loving This Summer
Indoor/outdoor spaces that blur the lines between home and vacation
Performance fabrics that survive kids, dogs, and pool towels
Pretty serving pieces that make takeout feel elevated
Soft blues, sun-washed greens, and warm whites
Oversized lamps and ambient lighting for summer evenings
A stocked beverage station for guests and kids coming and going
Here’s to a summer filled with family, slower evenings, and homes that hold all of it beautifully!
xo, Tonya
